We aim to conduct a mixed-methods pilot study to quantify the impact of 1-step screening on GDM diagnosis in pregnant people who self-identify as Asian or Hispanic and evaluate its feasibility and acceptability.

Our specific aims are to:

(1) Compare the prevalence of GDM among Asian or Hispanic pregnant people screened with 1-step vs those screened with the current US 2-step guidelines

(2) Evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of 1-step GDM screening and diagnosis in pregnant people using qualitative methods

(3) Evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of 1-step GDM screening from the perspective of providers using qualitative methods. Our central hypothesis is that 10% more pregnant people will be diagnosed with the 1-step method compared to the 2-step method, and 1-step screening will be considered feasible and acceptable.
